Firm Profile

Case Wins

Our firm recently won some important victories for out clients. Our firm recently won a case on summary disposition preserving our clients lake front property. Our clients neighbors were trying to claim right to 30 plus feet of lake frontage by adverse possession. Our firm successfully pointed out to the court that the requirements had not been met for adverse possession and we won the case including sanctions against the other attorney.
In another case our client has co-habitated with a man in her home while in a dating relationship. The gentleman put improvements into the woman's home of his own free will. When the relationship broke off he wanted reimbursement for all his improvements plus his labor. Our firm was able to show the court that the law did not all such recovery unless the man could show he expected to be reimbursed at the time he performed the services, and that the woman understood and agreed that he would be reimbursed. This case was also decided on summary disposition, meaning the case was won without having to go to trial.

Our firm also has recently won two cases where the State and the Department of Human Services were attempting to terminate the parental rights of two different mothers. In one case we were able to show that the Mother had completed everything asked of her by the agency and had done it well. The biggest complaint against the mother was that she was anxious at Doctor's appointments. We were able to persuade the court that the this was not a basis to terminate her parental rights and that she had a right to receive training for her son's medical care and the opportunity to demonstrate that she could utilize her skills to successfully care for her son.
In another recent case we were able to point out to the judge that the agency had not followed the courts order and had not given the Mother Mental Health Treatment. We discovered this after a lengthy review of the file in preparation for trial. We pointed this fact out the court and the court agreed that these services had not been done. The Social Worker on the case admitted to the same on questioning by Timothy Williams.

These cases illustrate that our firm works hard for our clients and obtains results.
